Foster carers needed in Whitchurch
Whitchurch is a town of 5,289 people on the River Test, in Basingstoke and Deane. Its town council calls it a small rural town in north west Hampshire, which is exactly what it is. South Coast Fostering covers it and the villages up the Bourne valley.
What do you need to be a foster carer?
A spare bedroom, and a week with slack in it. Rural means driving, and it means being the person who does the driving: to school, to the clinic, to whichever venue the local authority picks for contact.

Five thousand people, and a main line station
Whitchurch is small and it still has its own station on the Waterloo to Exeter line. The town council reckons about an hour to London, which is its own estimate rather than a timetable, but the point stands: a town of this size with a direct train is unusual, and it widens what a child placed here can keep hold of.
The silk mill on Winchester Street is the other thing people know about the place. It went up between 1813 and 1815 as a sawmill, was turned over to silk two years later, and Historic England lists it at Grade II star. The water wheel still runs off the Test.
