Foster carers come from many different backgrounds. What matters most is your ability to offer a consistent and nurturing home environment, alongside the patience and resilience to support a child through change. In most fostering arrangements, you will need a spare bedroom. If you are interested in fostering a baby, a separate bedroom may not be required initially.
At South Coast Fostering, you will receive structured preparation training, ongoing professional development and dedicated supervision from a supervising social worker with a manageable caseload. We also provide 24/7 out-of-hours support so you are never left to manage challenges alone.
Our foster carers receive £479.50 per week for children aged 0–10 and £507.50 per week for children aged 11 and over. We aim to be clear and transparent about payments so you can make an informed decision.

Why Fostering Matters
Fostering is about offering stability at a time when a child’s life may feel uncertain. Children come into care for many different reasons, but what they need consistently is safety, routine and dependable adults who will show up for them each day.
For many children, fostering provides the first experience of a calm and structured home environment. Regular school attendance, shared meals, clear boundaries and encouragement all contribute to rebuilding confidence and trust. Progress is often gradual, but small steps forward can lead to lasting change.
Foster carers play a vital role within a wider professional team. You are not expected to have all the answers. With training, supervision and 24/7 support, you are guided throughout the journey. What matters most is your commitment to providing consistent care and your willingness to work collaboratively in the child’s best interests.
Fostering is demanding at times, but it is also deeply purposeful. By opening your home, you provide more than accommodation — you provide stability, reassurance and the opportunity for a child to look towards the future with greater confidence.
