Foster carers needed in Emsworth
Emsworth sits in Havant borough at the point where Hampshire runs into West Sussex, on the western shore of Chichester Harbour. South Coast Fostering recruits carers here. The children who need them are placed by Hampshire County Council, not by anyone over the Sussex line.
What do you need to be a foster carer?
The spare bedroom comes first, and it has to be the child’s own room rather than one they share. Babies can start off in a crib beside your bed.
Then availability, which is where most Emsworth applicants have to do some thinking. Meetings, medicals and contact sessions land inside the working day. Plenty of carers here have jobs. What they also have is an employer who will let them leave at two on a Thursday without a fuss.

Emsworth
A harbour town on the county line
Chichester Harbour was designated on 4 February 1964 and is now one of England’s 34 National Landscapes, renamed in the 2023 rebrand. Emsworth began as a Saxon village, took market rights in the 13th century and made its money from boatbuilding and oysters by the 19th.
The boundary is the awkward part. A good deal of what an Emsworth child does day to day happens in West Sussex, while the council making decisions about them works out of Winchester. A carer who already lives here keeps both halves intact. Call 023 8235 2020.
