For most fostering, a separate bedroom matters

A child needs somewhere private to rest, keep their belongings and begin to feel at home. A suitable room is one part of considering whether your home can meet their needs.

Your whole home is part of the picture

The assessment looks at safety, space and the people who live with you. If you rent, tell us about that too. There is no need to guess whether your arrangements would work: describe them and ask.

Babies can involve different arrangements

A baby may share a carer’s room initially, subject to assessment and safe care arrangements. We’ll discuss the type of fostering you are considering, the space available and what might be needed as a child grows. Don’t assume that a small question about your home means you cannot foster.
