We Are Recruiting Foster Carers in and around Kent
There is an ongoing need for more local foster carers throughout the county. When children are placed further away due to a shortage of carers nearby, it can add additional disruption at an already uncertain time. By fostering locally in Kent, you help children stay connected to their communities and provide the consistency they need.
Everyone at South Coast Fostering is genuinely passionate about supporting both foster carers and the children placed with them. We are dedicated to building positive aspirations in every child, carer and member of staff we work with. When carers feel confident, valued and well supported, children are more likely to experience stability and progress.
Fostering does not stop at 5pm, and neither does our commitment to you. We provide 24/7 out-of-hours support, ensuring you are never left to manage challenges alone. Even when situations are complex or demanding, we remain alongside our carers with practical guidance and reassurance.
As an independent fostering agency focused on Southern England, we offer personalised supervision with manageable social worker caseloads, structured training and clear communication. Our foster carers receive £479.50 per week for children aged 0–10 and £507.50 per week for children aged 11 and over, recognising both the fostering allowance and the professional responsibility of the role.
If you live in Kent and are considering becoming a foster carer, an informal conversation is often the best first step. We are here to answer your questions clearly and help you explore whether fostering could be right for you.
Values that lead us
01
Doing the right thing, not the easy thing
If something is the right thing to do, then we will always do it, even if it is difficult.
02
Treat Carers As Professionals
We are shocked when we hear how poorly some foster carers have been treated by their fostering service. At SCF we always treat carers as professionals.
03
Family
We see ourselves as one big family. This means we have a deep underlying respect for each other.
04
Always be learning
We see everyday, and every incident as a chance to learn and develop. We help carers and staff reflect on how their actions affect others.

Fostering in Kent
Help a child feel safe, supported and able to look forward to the future.
Across Kent — including Maidstone, Canterbury, Ashford, Medway, Tunbridge Wells and surrounding communities — children and young people need foster carers who can provide stability, patience and encouragement. By fostering locally, you help children remain close to their schools, friendships and familiar surroundings at a time when much of their world may feel uncertain.
Foster carers provide more than accommodation. They offer routine, reassurance and the steady support that helps children rebuild confidence and trust. The everyday moments — school runs, shared meals, encouragement after a difficult day — are often the ones that make the greatest difference.
When you foster with South Coast Fostering, you are never expected to do it alone. We provide comprehensive training, dedicated supervision from an experienced social worker and 24/7 support whenever you need advice or guidance.
If you live in Kent and are exploring the idea of fostering, an informal conversation is a positive first step. It simply gives you the chance to learn more about the role and whether it could be right for you.
