Long term fostering
What is long term fostering?
Long term fostering is often something that either new carers really want to do, or really really don’t. But don’t worry, whatever you feeling are about it, you need to bear in mind that being a long term foster carer for a child, isn’t something that happens quickly. We’d only ever match a carer and child long term after ensuring that it’s what you the carer wants.
We’d only really classify a placement as long term (otherwise known as permanent) after it had gone to a local authorities matching panel, and everyone agrees that you the carer can care for the child until the are 18.
Never be worried that you’ll be pressured into becoming a long term foster carer. You always have the final say about any commitment you make, and we’ll never push you beyond your comfort zone.
