Who Needs Foster care?
Truthfully, there’s no easy way to answer this, the children we care for are all unique and special.
We have found homes for both 1 day old babies, and 17 year olds who can no longer live with their parents.
Fostering is a way of providing a family environment for a child that is no longer able to live with their parents.
can i foster?
If you;
- You have at least 1 spare bedroom in your home
- Don’t have any serious criminal convictions of a sexual nature
- Have the right to live in the UK permanently
Then we’d love to have a chat!
You do need to have time in your life to care for a child, so sometimes working full time might stop you from fostering, but as long as your work is flexible or home based, then fostering could be an option!
You also need to have the right motivation and share our passion for helping children.
What support will i get?
You will have a supervising social worker, who’s job is to be there for you! They will provide advice, guidance and sometimes a shoulder to cry on if needed.
As an agency, we also provide you with good training, and great opportunities for peer support – where we connect you with other foster carers. At the end of the day, it’s other carers that know what it’s really like.
book a call about fostering:
We’d be happy to give you a 15-20 minute call to talk to you about fostering!
Don’t worry, there’s no pressure from us – it’s honestly a chance for you to ask us any questions you have about fostering.
Just complete this short form and we will get back to you as soon as possible!
how much will i get paid?
We always say: “No one fosters for the money, but it’s difficult to foster without it!”
You should never feel embarrassed about asking about the financial side of fostering.
As a foster carer there are 2 parts to the payment you receive, the first part is called the allowance. This will cover the direct costs of caring for a child.
The second part is called the reward element and can be thought of as pay you receive as a foster carer to foster.
As a foster carer with South Coast Fostering, you’ll receive the following weekly amount:
If a child aged 10 or younger is placed with you, you’ll receive £450 per week per child.
For a child aged 11 or over you’ll receive £475 a week. This money will cover all the costs involved in caring for the child.
Is fostering a job?
No, fostering isn’t a job, it’s so much more .
Jobs you can usually forget about when you go home in the evening, whereas fostering is 24/7.
Fostering becomes part of your life in a way a job never can.
If you were to go into it as a job, you wouldn’t last very long as a foster carer.
