What this looks like
in everyday life.

When returning to a birth family is not part of the current plan, long-term fostering can provide a stable family home. It asks for a lasting commitment as a child’s needs change.

You will support school years, friendships, identity and the move towards adulthood. The child’s family relationships and care plan remain important, with professionals working alongside you.

A question worth asking

Is fostering the same as adoption?

No. Fostering remains a supported care arrangement, with social workers involved. We’ll explain the responsibilities and decisions that come with the role.

You will have support.

A named supervising social worker, regular contact, training and access to experienced out-of-hours advice are part of fostering with South Coast.
