From 1st March 2024, South Coast Fostering is paying a yearly contribution towards our foster carers’ council tax. It starts at £330 and rises to £1500 for carers who have been with us 20 years or more.

Council tax in many areas is rising faster than inflation, and it’s the bill a lot of carers worry about most. We put carers’ fees up by 15.5% over the last two years, in recognition of your commitment to fostering. A general uplift only goes so far against one bill that keeps climbing on its own, though, so this time we’ve aimed the money straight at it.

South Coast Fostering is the first independent fostering agency to offer this kind of financial help.

What you’ll get and when

The contribution works on a sliding scale, based on how long you’ve fostered with us.

Payments go out monthly, on the last business day, and depend on you fostering actively that month. The point is relief you can feel now, and a reason to stay with us for the long run.

Where we are on allowances

We’re also hoping to improve carers’ allowances, subject to our yearly negotiations with local authorities.

Thank you for what you do. It makes a difference in so many lives, and this is one practical way of saying so.
