Becoming a foster carer is generally a bit of a journey, some people are very quick on this journey whilst others take a bit more time. The important thing is that you go at the right pace for you. You should never feel pressured to go faster than you want.
We've tried to provide some guidance about your next steps, depending on where you are in your journey.
First Thoughts:
Fostering is something that sometimes people think about for year before applying. It’s a big step, so it’s really important to decide it’s the right thing for you and your family.
The first thing you should do is research. You can either read lots of websites, have a call with and agency, or download a guide to fostering.
You probably have lots of questions which is natural. You will find general answers to general questions on sites like ours, but sometimes you’ll need to speak to someone to get a specific question.

Step 2 - Specific Questions About Your Circumstances
If you’ve read some information about fostering, then you might now have questions around your own circumstances. The number 1 thing we’re asked is – can I foster if……..?

Step 3 - Ready to decide who to foster with?
If you know you are ready to foster, then the next step is to talk to a few fostering agencies, to decide which one is right for you.
We’d suggest you talk to about 3 IFAs, and we’d really like it if one of them was us.
We’re really nice we promise, and see out initial call as an opportunity for you to ask us lots of questions rather than the other way round.

Step 4 - You've made the decision you want to join South Coast Fostering
if you’ve made the decision you want to foster, and you want to foster with us (which is an excellent choice by the way), it’s time to register. We just need a few more details from you to get the ball rolling.
