The past few years have brought their share of challenges, not least of which has been the sharp rise in the cost of living.
At South Coast Fostering, the way in which we support our carers has been constant throughout these times. Aware of the financial pressures facing many, we’ve been committed to finding ways to help.
Proudly, we’ve raised our carers’ fees by over 15% in the last two years, acknowledging their hard work and commitment to fostering. Yet, with council tax rates climbing at a pace beyond inflation in many areas, we understand the growing concern this causes.
With great pleasure, we have unveiled a trailblazing initiative. South Coast Fostering is delighted to be the first independent fostering agency to introduce such a targeted support measure.
Our council tax support features a sliding scale of contributions. The scheme recognises and rewards carers’ loyalty and dedication to fostering. The intention is twofold: to provide immediate financial relief and to encourage continued fostering.
We hope to continue to increase our carers’ allowances, as we hold annual discussions with local authorities. We’re focused on delivering support promptly, where it’s most needed.
This initiative is a token of our gratitude toward carers, aiming to bring some ease during these challenging times.
Below, is a breakdown of the council tax contributions:
| Years with Positive Aspirations as a Foster Carer (GLF, FH & SCF) | 0-5 Years | 5-10 Years | 10-15 Years | 15-20 Years | 20-25 Years |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Annual Contribution | £330 | £550 | £800 | £1100 | £1500 |
This pioneering scheme reaffirms our commitment to our foster carers. Our foster carers’ dedication is the backbone of our community, and we are here to support them every step of the way.
